Cubaris Penguin x15

Cubaris Penguin x15

Cubaris “Penguin” is a charming, slower-breeding isopod species that’s ideal for keepers who enjoy patience and attention to detail. With their smooth black-grey colouring and rounded “penguin-like” shape, these little guys add a sleek, elegant touch to any bioactive setup. Unlike more common species, Penguins are a bit shy and tend to stay tucked away — but when they do come out, they’re a joy to watch. They prefer stable, high-humidity conditions and a moisture gradient in their enclosure.

• Humidity requirements: 75–90%

• Temperature requirements: 22–26 °C

• Hibernation: No

• Colony size: Grows slowly (ideal for controlled populations) • Suggested housing: Bioactive enclosures with moist and dry areas, plenty of hides • Feeding: Leaf litter, decaying wood, fish flakes, fruit/veg (in moderation), and a calcium source

• Size: Adults ~8–10 mm

• Breeding: Slow to moderate — more sensitive than fast breeders

• Visibility: Moderate to low (shy, prefers hiding spots)
